This workshop will provide insight into the transparent qualities and flow of this vital medium, including the appropriate use of wet-in-wet underpainting to obtain luminosity and variation! From concept, design, along with recommended drawing methods, participants will be introduced to logical, thoughtful and creative ways of achieving pleasing qualities to their work, whilst pursuing the all-important “Big Picture”.
*Suitable class demonstrations in two stages by the tutor, will feature various aspects of landscape, buildings/urban, man-made objects, as well as figurative. Each day or half-day will feature a new subject exercise. Each exercise will emphasise-how to capture the illusion of light, form and shape, with associated colour possibilities, encouraging personal interpretation to each artist’s work. **Advanced
*General appraisal, teaching notes, and reference information will be provided.
**Advanced – this course is designed for students who practice art regularly. The tutor won’t have time to focus on teaching basic skills as this course is designed to build on prior knowledge.

Ross is a professional artist-teacher, highly respected for his painting abilities in all mediums, particularly watercolour, oil, acrylic and pastel. With more than 200 major awards to his credit, including Shanghai Biennial, Award of Excellence-2012, Camberwell Rotary, several times, Victor Harbor Corporate-twice, 2005, 2019 Kenneth Jack Award, 2007 to mention only a few. He has works in collections both nationally and internationally. Ross is in constant demand for his Tutorials worldwide (by invitation) – France, China, Russia, as well as throughout Australia and New Zealand. He has held many successful solo and group exhibitions in Australia and abroad – France and China.
A trained Secondary teacher, Ross is accomplished and diverse in art with extensive knowledge and experience in art education. He is an invited member of Twenty Melbourne Painters Society, Australian Watercolour Institute, (Sydney) by invitation; Victorian Watercolour Society and Australian Guild of Realist Artists. Although a painter of mainly landscapes, he also paints figures/portraits.
