Let go of your ‘thinking mind’ and connect to your subconscious through poetry and painting. In this workshop, participants will sift through books, cutting out words and phrases to write their own poetry with. These poems will be the subject matter of the paintings that we create. Throughout this process, participants will learn a variety of painting techniques with focuses on abstraction and symbolism.

Ileigh Hellier is an Artist and Arts Educator from Mulubinba (Newcastle), NSW, now living and working in Nipaluna (Hobart). Ileigh is primarily a painter although she works in a range of othermediums including printmaking and sculpture. Ileigh was a finalist in both the Waverley Art Prize and the Deakin University Small Sculpture Award in 2024 and has received commended awards in both the Jacaranda Drawing Prize in 2022 and The John Glover Prize in 2020. Her work is held in both public and private collections.
