Lorette Broekstra
Lorette was born in the small town, Yallourn, in country Victoria.
Her love of art led her to study Graphic Design in Melbourne and after finishing she travelled to Holland where she worked as a freelance Illustrator for eight years. She specialised in linocuts and mixed media.
After her return to Melbourne in 1996, as the mother of two young children, she developed a keen interest in Children’s Books. In 1999, she wrote and illustrated her first picture book, Baby Bear goes to the Zoo which won her the Crichton Award for illustration. She now has a total of sixteen published books.
Lorette teaches drawing and design at RMIT, and short courses in illustration and Children’s books at both RMIT and the CAE (Council of Adult Education.)

PERSONAL IMAGERY WITH MIXED MEDIA Working with a range of mediums: ink, acrylic, stencils & monoprints explore your personal story. You will work with integrating these mediums and how they can be layered, combined and assembled. Work with different techniques and styles to create collages that will be inspired by your memories and photographs of different aspects of your life depicting your very own personal story.
