2 Day | Saturday 15 – Sunday 16 March 2025
SEW A POSTCARD – SOLD OUT please click the email link below if you would like to go on the waiting list This workshop covers all the techniques used to create a delightful, nostalgic, A4 sized artwork. The postcard can be completed in the traditional quilt format, framed as an art piece, or simply backed with fabric. It could be posted to a friend, stitched onto a handbag, or hung on the wall. There are about 20 different kits to choose from whether your heart is given to a giraffe or a kangaroo, a protea or a scarlet sprite, a couple of busy bees or a flamboyant sea horse. We shall laugh and stitch our way through learning how to transfer your chosen image to canvas, create an underpainting of little snippets of fabric, stitch the image details using different coloured threads and paint the background using Inktense colour pencils. 4 Day | Monday 17 – Thursday 20 March 2025
STITCH A BOWL – only 2 places left! In this workshop at least one of those days will be filled with the magic of turning your domestic sewing machine into a potter’s wheel. You will watch the gentle, and somewhat serendipitous emergence of a shaped vessel form itself beneath your needle. You can guide your shape into a deep bowl or a wide platter and then fill this wondrous hollow with a bird, a couple of field mice, or some brightly striped bees. Each kit contains at least 3 different images; 3 separate and differently shaped bowls or perhaps one large platter, the choice is yours to make. Learning how to be process driven, rather than project driven, allows the joy of creation its full reign – the product becomes a surprising delight of expression. Join me, stitch a bowl, and we shall explore this wondrous aspect of using your sewing machine in an unexpected way. All levels |

Insta kathrynharmerfox
The fibre art of Kathryn Harmer Fox has travelled the world from the tip of Africa to Europe, Japan, the USA, the UK, New Zealand, and Australia. The artist herself (not nearly as well travelled) has followed in its footsteps to New Zealand and Australia teaching her unique style of "painting" with fabric and thread.
She uses her sewing machine as a drawing tool, exploring human, animal, and botanical themes from realistic portraits to representational concepts. Kathryn believes that all creativity is healing, and like laughter, is necessary to good health.
