MAKE LEATHER FROM PLASTIC BAGS: Collage, Embossing, Compression, Moulding & Sewing Learn how to make a leather like material from plastic bags for sewing and other uses as well as multiple ways to decorate, texturise and shape the materials for a variety of applications. You’ll learn how to make different types of products such as your choice of wallets, bags, plastic ceramics or jewellery, all while learning different techniques to work the materials. Like the two-day session, the four-day workshop teaches core skills but allows more time for complex projects like backpacks. All levels |

Cesar Marulanda is a self-taught artists and industrial designer who has established himself as one of the pioneers in plastic waste upcycling globally. Since 2011 Marulanda has been sharing and exploring with different methods to turn soft plastic waste into art following his background in abstract painting and street art.
After finishing his bachelor degree in 2021 in industrial design at RMIT and with an inherited family passion for carpentry, electronics and just DIY in general, his approach has been only to use the biproducts of society to create functional and colourful art and design focusing on the repurposing of soft plastic waste. This has led him to find an immense potential in upcycling soft plastics all with a grassroots approach using resources available to anyone.
