Discover how to tell your story in mysterious asemic stitching, as well as chain, cretan stitches and more. |
4 Day | Monday 21 – Thursday 24 March 2022
OLD FASHION......TRANSFORMED 2 places left in this workshop Disassemble, assemble, cut off, add on and play! Take... a piece of clothing. An outdated item out of your wardrobe, or something found in an op shop. Perhaps you like the material it is made of, the texture or the colour. Transform it into a piece of unique sustainable couture, using other pieces of discarded clothing and collected materials. |
Aukje Boonstra
Aukje Boonstra started her textile art practise in 1997. Her area of expertise is about sustainability, working mainly with materials others discard. Nature is a huge inspiration for Aukje. This relates to her dyeing, using local vegetation, seaweeds and garden plants. Creating unique sustainable couture out of thrift shop finds, keep on fascinating her. Applying hand stitching with embellishing clothing, making stitching samplers, journal covers and textile artworks is part of daily life. Being playful and free is essential.
Aukje has been exhibiting in Tasmania and in The Netherlands and has conducted workshops Australia wide since 2000.
