FELTMAKING: sculptural textures Learn how to use resists and pre-felt bats to create surface textures in two feltmaking projects. On day one, felt wool fibres into a small wall-hanging with 3-dimensional surface textures reminiscent of cracked mud, barnacles and rock-pool patterns. These techniques create exciting and complex shapes that you have dreamed of making. Curiosity and play within the design process will be emphasized, combined with detailed tuition on the finer points of making 3-dimensional hollow forms in feltmaking. Venture beyond the standard vessel with many new ideas for making sculptural forms. Anita Johnson (Larkin) is a sculptor whose works explore brokenness and notions of repair. Since 1993 Anita has taught her unique sculptural approach to feltmaking to thousands of students. Anita has a Bachelor of Visual Arts - Sydney College of The Arts, and a Doctor of Creative Arts - University of Wollongong, and is represented by Defiance Gallery, Sydney. Exhibitions include: The Wynne Prize, The Wangaratta Contemporary Textile Award, 6th International World Textile Art Biennial of Contemporary Art, Sculptural Felt International, 2nd and 6th Tamworth Textile Triennials, 5th Beijing International Art Biennale, The Australian Design Centre, The Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize
