4 Day | Monday 14 – Thursday 17 September 2026
INTRODUCTION TO REDUCTION LINOCUT A reduction linocut is a relief printing method where a single block is progressively carved and printed to create muti-coloured, layered images, ultimately destroying the block in the process. Artists print the lightest colour first, then carve away more lino for subsequent, darker colours, requiring the entire edition to be produced in one session. You will learn lino reduction process and brief history, how to prepare your image, image transfer onto a plate, set up registration system (Ternes -Burton registration system), 3+ colour plus white reduction to produce your final printed work. Participants will be able to make several smaller works or one larger detailed work with more layers/colours. We will learn both the press process and hand pressing for home use. All levels |
