Insta jane_thompson_art
Jane Thompson is a professional artist based in Brisbane/Meanjin who was raised on a grazing property in the Southern Tablelands of NSW.
Her colour-filled paintings are an expressive account of her ideas and experiences in an evolving society with a growing interest in the natural elements of our world. Jane also likes to question and evaluate the objectives of the human spirit, allowing her artwork to consider the hopes we have in the familiar and the ones we have for the unknown.
Painting quickly and intuitively, Jane applies acrylic paints for their flexible and fast-drying nature, selecting colours that respond to the heightened tensions, nostalgic moods and captivating sensations as they reveal themselves. Oil sticks and graphite are often applied to emphasise and capture the immediate rawness of the theme.
Professionally, Jane’s work is held in both private and corporate collections across Australia, UK, Europe, Southeast Asia and North America.
