EXPRESSIVE PLEIN AIR PAINTING – SOLD OUT! please click the email link below if you would like to go on the waiting list This fun and inspiring workshop is suitable for both beginners and experienced artists looking to enhance their skills, you'll learn various techniques and tips for painting outside. Using an expressive approach to painting, we will focus on capturing a spontaneous reaction to the landscape. We’ll be painting both outside and in the studio. Learn to mix colours to reflect the landscape you see and learn how to use your sketchbook for gathering resources like preliminary sketches and studies. We will work on completing a series of fast and loose painterly sketches on paper and then work on developing these into a finished painting back in the studio. All levels |

EXPERIMENTAL LANDSCAPE – PLEIN AIR TO STUDIO – only 3 places left! Drawing inspiration from the Grampians, we’ll take an intuitive and loose approach, exploring a range of exercises to spark new ways of kickstarting a body of work. We’ll work with visual material gathered from plein air sessions and from experimenting with collage, painting, and monotype printing. Our exercises will include; expanding your mark‑making vocabulary, developing strong compositions, colour mixing, tips for painting en plein air and building layered mixed‑media works using ink, watercolour, drawing, monoprints, and paint. You’ll discover how engaging with the landscape through a loose, experimental process can add depth to your work and carry through into more resolved studio paintings. All levels |

Clare Purser is a Brisbane-based Artist and Art Educator with the Brisbane Institute of Art. Central to her practice is en plein air painting, seeking to capture a connection to the landscape through painting and drawing. A primary theme of her work is the environment, with a particular focus on areas of high conservation value such as the Gondwana rainforests of South East Queensland and the Ramsar Wetlands of Moreton Bay. Clare holds an Honours degree from Queensland College of Art, Griffith University. Clare is represented by the Woolloongabba Art Gallery in Brisbane and several interstate galleries. Her work is held in private and public collections, she has been a finalist in many art prizes and won the Milburn Art Award in 2016.
