Explore the interaction of watercolour, gouache, pencils, charcoal, pastels, and collage for expressive artworks to create multiple layers of depth and mystery.
Designed for artists ready to move beyond literal observation and habitual assumptions. We’ll use whatever materials we need - watercolour, inks, white paint, opaque colour, dry media because the goal is expression, not purity; experimentation, not technique and where mistakes are information, not failure.
Anchored in visual foundations, free from technical rules allowing your ideas to deepen, and with an emphasis on what happens, not outcomes, you will develop your own artistic style by exploring shape, colour, and space with cohesion, using design to guide the viewer’s eye and make your work feel intentional and engaging. Intermediate/Advance

Annette Raff has a strong background in art and design, specialising in drawing and water media. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Art, an Advanced Certificate in Art and Design, and is a Fellow of the Royal Queensland Art Society.
Not bound by traditional methods, Annette encourages an exploratory approach to artmaking in her classes. She is a popular tutor with 28 years of teaching experience, having taught at the Royal Queensland Art Society, USQ McGregor Art School, Buderim Winter School, and Creative Injune.
Her work has been recognised in numerous awards, including highly commended and finalist placements in the Lethbridge 20000 Prize, Tattersalls Landscape Prize, and Brisbane Portrait Prize – Salon des Refusés
