Focusing on a realistic approach: an accurate, detailed, depiction of the subject in its natural environment, working in watercolour and gouache. The emphasis will be on, researching and ‘knowing’ your subject and habitat, working with board and paper, planning and composition – what to leave in/leave out, the necessity of drawing, how to create a sense of action and anticipation in your work.
Intermediate/Advanced

MULTI PLATE COLOUR PRINTING
Tutor: Basil Hall
Master Printer, Basil Hall, will once again offer a 6 day colour printing workshop in a variety of etching techniques – old and new. He will discuss each participant’s ideas and work with them individually, combining traditional hard and soft ground, sugarlift and spray aquatint with monoprint and collagraph plates to produce beautiful colour prints. Intermediate/Advanced

COLOUR + PENCIL
Tutor: Julie Payne
This workshop experiments with pencil drawing over gouache or watercolour paintings on paper. Although designed for those with an interest in non-scientific botanical work, other objects can easily be accommodated. Drawing techniques range from detailed tonal drawings to energetic textual rubbings. Daily observational drawings within a concertina journal is also encouraged as a personal momento of the workshop.
